This month we introduce you to Legal Cashier, Marlene Maxwell. Having worked for Wildings for 30 years, Marlene is able to offer a unique insight into the firm and how it has developed into what we see today.
Describe your role at Wildings
I am a Legal Cashier and head of the Accounts Department. I am in charge of processing the cash transactions of the business, processing bank transfers, carrying out bank reconciliations on office and client accounts and dealing with queries from partners, fee earners and support staff.
How long have you worked at Wildings?
I have been with Wildings for 30 years now. I began working with the company as a legal cashier 6 months after they started trading and I have remained in the job, progressing to Head of Accounts during this time.
What has been the biggest change?
The biggest change has been the volume of work which has come with the increasing number of clients through the development of online enquirers. As Wildings expanded and began to cover more areas of law, the business took on more employees and opened a further branch in Manchester.
What is the most enjoyable aspect of your role?
I get great satisfaction at the end of the month when everything has been accounted for, the hard work has paid off and the accounts are balanced. I really enjoy the interaction with the staff both in Birmingham and Manchester, and I take pleasure in helping to solve their accounting queries effectively.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to relax and unwind, I particularly enjoy reading. I like to spend time with my family with whom I am very close.
